Dr. Stanley N. Graven, founding chair of the Department of Community and Family Health, USF College of Public Health, is well known for his life’s work with families and communities. Dr. Graven has spent significant time throughout his career advancing the importance of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) environment. He continues to be actively involved in the study of the impact of the sensory environment on early infant brain development. His presentation on the significance of the maternal environment for healthy growth and development of fetuses and infants will be used by the BIHPI Community Action Team to bring greater public awareness and change in our community.
